I guess I should update

Well since I last posted I have been to Rome and back with my wife, daughter and sister in law. Well that was interesting… never again.

First time hosting on Wordpess servers

This might be an option that works out well. No hosting provider needed just point the domain and go. I like that the app fits on any device and I can make updates on almost anything..

Ford Recall for Air Bags

So about a year ago (July 2015 ) I got a letter from Ford letting me know the air bags need to be replaced. I’m thinking everyone would be getting the replacement parts all at once so I waited to call for a appointment.

I called today and found out FORD has not even got the parts yet…almost a year later. These are the air bags that shoot shrapnel in your face and I hear of at least one death a month. Or the ones that just don’t deploy.

How can they or any car company get away with this….killing your customers is better for your bottom line ? I see them coming out with millions of cars every year. They can’t put some of those parts in the older cars that need them ?

When I called FORD customer service they said there was NOTHING they could do the parts would be in next month and then you will get a LETTER telling you to call for a appointment and wait in line like everyone else. When I asked for a loaner till the car is fixed they said that is not policy and couldn’t be doneĀ  ( my thought was thank you for buying a FORD now screw off and die ).

Contacted FORD on Twitter and I will post the conversation here…

@FordService @Ford Got a safety recall a year ago and my local dealer says they don’t have the parts…are you trying to get people hurt ?

@evdaycomputer Safety is our top priority. Which recall are you referring to? I’ll take a look at things on this end. ^JW

@FordService the air bags, not so worried that you will let me drive the car for a year

@evdaycomputer Ford is working with its suppliers to expedite parts as quickly as possible. What’s the model year of your Mustang? ^JW

@FordService base model 2008, a year is ridiculous you should send me a loaner till you get your “parts” together

@evdaycomputer Between now & 3rd Quarter 2016, you’ll receive a letter advising when a replacement part is available for your vehicle. ^JW

@FordService how many people have died or been injured waiting for Ford to get “parts”

@evdaycomputer We take the safety of our customers very seriously, & we’ll continue to work with NHTSA to prioritize the replacement of …

@evdaycomputer air bag inflators to ensure they are replaced as quickly as possible, addressing the highest risks first. ^JW

I never did get a response about how many people have to die …………………………………….

You get what you pay for “ipage”

Getting tired of Go Daddy ever growing price increase’s someone I meet suggested ipage.com as a hosting provider.

I checked out the website and the price’s were about what I paid at Go Daddy so many years ago. The had a 30 day free trial so how could you go wrong. Most of my sites are just some basic html but with Google liking sites that are mobile ready I have been using templates or Word Press sites.

The email and FTP are so easy to use , I can call it old school straight forward. I moved one of my customers to that for hosting due to a dislike of the other company by me and my customer. And it was easy to do so everything was working out great.

But …there is always a but…about the time the 30 day trial ended I started getting reports from “jetpack” a Word Press plugin that the site was going down. Not for a long time but multi times a week.

Just to see if anything was different I opened a “support ticket” via the ipage site. Just like I thought it took days before anyone “read” the request , i got a bunch of canned response’s that didn’t help. After 10 days I just gave up getting help that way.

Just before leaving for vacation I called them about this “down time” problem before I left. The support rep looked into it and saw that I had made other request’s and said he was sorry it was not fixed. He said it was due to a old ( java i think ) script that was running and updated it and said it should be fixed.

Today I get online from Mexico and see 12 emails from “jetpack” that the site was down, for a hour at most at a time. Now I have to decide to cal the again , of course there is a PAID option $35 a year to get on the “dedicated Word Press servers”. Or move the site’s back to Go Daddy.

You get what you pay for……

The response I got from Ipage

Hello,

I am sorry to hear about the issue experienced due to Jetpack downtime notifications. There was no server side issues recently. As your website is database driven and we are on shared hosting platform, you may experience some slowness in website loading. However, we consider that to be a reasonable time for a database driven site in a shared-server environment where you share system resources with thousands of other customers. Therefore, you may find periodical slowness issues. However, this might trigger that your site is inaccessible after ten (10) seconds when Jetpack Monitor checks your site. I suggest you to ignore such notifications. The websites http://dirtymindspub.com/ and http://www.jobspeakweedcontrol.com/ is currently loading without any issues.

To learn more about it, please go to: http://jetpack.me/support/monitor/ .

If you wish to have faster loading speed for your WordPress website, then I suggest upgrade your account to WordPress Essential. we have recently launched the ā€˜WordPress Essential’ program which enhances your WordPress Hosting experience. Go Daddy web host change

Hello , I have been using Go Daddy web hosting for years and as of late something has changed . Ā They had been something I never thought about when it cam time to renew my hosting service. It just worked without much of a fuss. It was about $80 a year and slowly moved up ( correction ) moved up on pricing fast, and I didn’t see the reason why.

Go Daddy did get this “new system” Cpanel and last year I oped to move to the “new systems” from the old. Only was that was one big mistake. Seems they are keeping the new and old systems online at the same time. Moved all my domains and email to Cpanel and thats where the trouble started.

The webĀ and email on the cpanel is almost un-usable .Ā  With all the DNS errors andĀ  email just not working . I have had to call support no less then 10 times and even Go Daddy support said there Cpanel email sucks. OH and that’s the “free” email.

I moved some of the domains to Google Domains as they needed to be renewed ( private registration ) Go Daddy is charging $7.99 per domain. Almost done with Go Daddy for good ,moving to ipage.com for hosting.Ā Its sadĀ Go DaddyĀ went down hill so fast, I feel so bad for the nice people that work there.
