Coming back from Mexico 2 weeks ago I was hoping things in the US would be getting better. That is not that case, the pain in the ass “Karen and Kevin’s” decided to open the country way to soon. In Nevada the amount of Covid case’s had doubled since the opening of the casinos and its worse in Las Vegas.
I thought about what I have wrote so far and was thinking “spoiled ass American” there are a lot more people worse off then I am during this bullshit. The point I’m trying to make is that we (US) could have done a better job at slowing down the progress and spread of this. I don’t mind having to wear a mask if it helps.
Now back to me, so my family has decided for me not to go back to work and my wife is working remotely for the foreseeable future. And I would love to do this someplace that is note home, but the rest of the world saw and is seeing the US numbers go up and are refusing entry. Italy where I was going to in march was shut down. They closed for a month and then started letting visitors back in slowly. Now residents of the EU came come and go as they please but if you have a US passport sorry don’t even try.
So It’s been a long time ( or at least what feels like a long time ) but I have a plan to get the hell out of the country on Thursday. We have had this trip to mexico planned since it looked like they were opening Mexico and now 3 days away the US numbers are up. US from what I’m seeing seem to think everything is all fine and good “Fuck heads”.
We did make it into Mexico on American Airlines and the planes had a lot more people on them then I thought would be there. You know airlines profit before safety. All the stress I was feeling or should I say anxiety about making it was gone.
The resort check in was fast, we had been to this resort before years ago. I didn’t remember to much about the first visit it was so long ago and only a few days. The room we got was one with a ocean view and a private pool. Anytime you have the option get the private pool.
We were up on the top floor ( no lift ) and the view was wonderful. The resort only had a few people in it the day we checked in. And it looked like they checked out they next day. We had all the beds next to the pool and most on the pool to ourselves. I did forget how the heat gets to you on the first day so we had to head back to the room during the hottest part of the day.
The pool is a odd one with a lot of changes in depth up to about 9 foot in some sections. The staff had so little people to serve they got used to what we drank and who we were. Soon as the bar opened at 11 they sent over drinks without us asking. Everytime we wend to get something to eat they had temp scanners and kept a record. The food and service was awesome I hope we can go back soon.
So with the virus that is ragging the planet our plans for a family vacation in Italy soon went to hell. So with that said avoid Orvago when booking any travel. At the last moment we decided that Mexico was a good option since everyone had the days off all ready.
The trip started of with a trip from Reno to San Fran via RT80 and a 7200 foot mountain rage and snow. It was slow going but we made it and had a overnight in San Fran so no rush,We were taking the kids back to Puerto Vallarta since they were 16 for the boys and 13 for my daughter. It’s a big difference taking them back 17 years later, the town has grown and so have the kids.
This time we stayed at a “resort” the locals used to get away from time to time. It seemed they were renovating when we got there and the rooms ( 2 bedroom flats ) we real close to the pool and ocean but last on the list to be updated. They only had AC in the bedrooms and the power outlets were hanging out of the wall in some place’s. They had 2 pools one a little colder then the other and lots of kids playing in both.
We did get to meet some new friends.
All in all it was nice to get out of town for a while and I had a lot of people worried about us getting back into the US, there were no people at the airports and the plane was not full coming back. When I saw what was going on here I was wondering why I left Mexico.
